Dustin Pedroia is taking grounders from his knees

Jun 30, 2010, 4:54 PM EDT

Freak show . . . relax:

Right now, as I write this, Dustin Pedroia is
kneeling on the grass at second base taking grounders from Tim Bogar. Seriously. And not pitty-pat grounders to your kid in the backyard. These are
big league groundballs. He then flips the balls to coach Rob Leary. Yeah, six weeks. That sounds right.

David Eckstein was just seen on a cellphone yelling at his agent “why didn’t YOU come up with the grounders on my knees thing when I strained my hamstring back in April?!  Do you know how hard I’m gonna have to work to beat out Pedroia at the Gritties ceremony this fall?! Man, sometimes it’s like you don’t even know the game plan!”

Now I must pray that Dustin doesnt catch (pun) a Tim Bogar groundball to his mandible.

I’d like to see Brandon Phillips or Robinson Cano do this. They just don’t have the dedication of Pedroia!

Hell , I thought he always played on his knees !
