The Rays designate Hank Blalock for assignment

Jun 30, 2010, 9:52 AM EDT

The Rays cut Pat Burrell to bring up Hank Blalock and now they’ve DFA’d Blalock to make room for Gabe Kapler. John Jaha, Dante Bichette and Jeff Conine: call your agents.

Not that Blalock needed to hang around. He hit .254/.319/.349 in limited play for the Rays team that desperately needs to find some offense.

Too bad he signed for more than Mike (.166/.226/.207) Lamb; the Feesh could have used him.

Great we replace a guy hitting .264 with a guy hitting .219? That’s just what we need to get out of this tailspin.

Incidentally, what happened to my old buddy TF in Tampa? You still alive, guy?
