Ted Lilly: Zambrano wants to help the Cubs

Jul 1, 2010, 1:12 PM EDT

Ted Lilly must have a great cell phone plan. Unlimited minutes to call anywhere, including Greater Crazyville, where he apparently reached Carlos Zambrano:

Ted Lilly became the first Cubs player to get through to Carlos Zambrano, saying the controversial pitcher wants to return to help the team in the second half of the season.

“I talked to Carlos (Monday) night and he wants to be back out here and he wants to help the team, and I believe that he’s going to do that,” Lilly told WGN-Ch. 9.

And my daughter believes the tooth fairy left that buck under her pillow last week. Beliefs are nice like that.  But just like that baby tooth falling out to make way for the permanent one, Carlos Zambrano stands as an excellent example of addition by subtraction.

Are you kidding me,Let Carlos stay home, maybe he will learn that he is suppose to be a team player not a jerk.
The Cubbies deserve better, they pay him a ton of money to win,not complain and start fights in the club house.
I say, release him for good,he has lost it,his pitching is in decline and he needs to see that.

The tooth fairy (Dentis mediocris) has a remarkable life cycle. The female insect implants eggs beneath childrens’ gums at night with its long, sharp ovipositor. The burrowing larva develops safely, protected by the tooth, until it matures and gradually pushes the tooth out. Negatively heliotropic, it emerges from the empty tooth socket late at night and escapes just after the idiot parent – probably Scrooge McLoria – leaves a measley quarter, practically worthless in today’s economy, under the kid’s pillow.
So Craig, do you tell your kids the truth about the so-called “tooth fairy,” or do you schmooze them with Disneyspeak?

I’ll take Carlos if the Cubs are throwing him away.
