The Royals are interested in Jeff Francoeur

Jul 23, 2010, 2:12 PM EDT

Of course they are.

“Every individual acts and suffers in accordance with his peculiar teleology, which has all the inevitability of fate, so long as he does not understand it.”

Noted psychologist Alfred Adler, no doubt describing the thought process of Royals General Manager Dayton Moore, and his fixation on former Braves players.  The latest of which is Jeff Francoeur, in whom Ken Rosenthal reports the Royals are now interested.

This was as inevitable as pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. And it could be a perfect deal for the Mets.  Dayton Moore loves getting former Braves, so he’d obviously want Francoeur.  Omar Minaya loves getting injured players, so he’d be all over David DeJesus.  The deal does itself!

And yes, I know that’s a picture of Francoeur in a Braves uniform. But if you don’t think Dayton Moore doesn’t daydream about him like that, you’re crazy.

Dayton Moore loves players who don’t walk or hit for power as much every bit as much as he loves former Braves. I think he had a “happy dream” when he realized the Mets are down on Frenchy

Makes a great companion piece for Farnsworth.

No doubt they prefer a veteran like Jeff Francoeur over a guy like Alex Gordon, who hasn’t yet shown that he can hit major league pitching.

Francoeur has shown he can not hit major league pitching. I think it’s better to not have shown that you can’t do something than to have already shown that you can’t do it.

I’m thinking Omar wants Rick Ankiel. Frenchy but without the defense.

The worst thing is if I was Omar, I would literally trade Francoeur for DeJesus even knowing he is out for the year.
