He could have just said he didnt want to move his family but by not saying what would have been an obvious answer he is leading us to believe there is more to this.

In any case, he has the right to turn down the trade. You have to also consider he would be uprooting his family and having to worry about finding a place to live.
He’s picked it up lately, so maybe he can finish strong and set himself up for a good contract. Why head into free agency by going to a new league to learn new pitchers?
And more importantly, he isn’t doing it to get an option picked up or to get an extension. At least, not that we have heard.
