Yes, agreed with Philip P (nice name) and geoknows. Happ is a seviceable middle of rotation guy, or back of rotation if you're pessimistic. Plus he's cheap and controlled for a few years. Trading up outright for Lilly makes no sense. He's old and a rental. Phillies have had injury issues, which comes with the territory if you're an old team. This just compounds that. Plus, I don't think Lilly is a difference maker for the Phillies (especially if you subtract Happ from the rotation) in a year where the Braves are still 3.5 games out (and this is after a 6-0 stretch by the Phillies) and still 2.5 games behind the wildcard.
If true, this is just another sign that Ruben sucks.

Lilly comes with no big salary obligations? He makes $13 million this year, so is still owed about $4.5 million for the rest of the season. That seems pretty big to me. Plus he's a rental, as opposed to Happ, who's cheap and under control for several more years. Can't see why you think this makes sense, unless you're just looking at it from the Cubs standpoint.

Jayson Stark of ESPN has already stated that Happ could have been had for Oswalt or Haren, since each could have been controlled for 1-2 years. No way they trade Happ for a Rental like Lilly.
