The Yankees are not getting Downs unless they offer value in return. After Rivera, the Yankee bullpen is not very impressive. Downs is a superior 8th inning pitcher.

The Jays are not getting Jesus Montero unless they magically find out that Roy Halladay is still on their roster and trade him to the Yanks.

I wonder about future Jays trades. They are said to have asked for Yankee catching prospect Jesus Montero for Scott Downs. I believe that some scouts think that Montero will have to move to another position such as first base. I would not be surprised if the Jays offer Downs and a second tier prospect such as lefty Brad Mills who threw 7 scoreless innings against Baltimore yesterday with the intention of turning Montero into a first baseman.

Seems like a bit of a red flag to me. Not only because this is his fourth organization in the last 369 days, but IIRC the Jays went after Wallace in Philly before getting him from Oakland (who also seemed to sour on him pretty quickly).

As a Jay’s fan I find this very interesting. Lind has been working out extensively at first base. Las Vegas is a hitters paradise and Wallace has not taken full advantage of the situation. I know nothing about Gose; however, the Jays say that they want more “athletes” in the system. I assume that he falls into that category.
