Finally some serious temperature in Dallas and the A's melted in the rubber game. Tellingly no Bengie behind the plate for the Rangers as his weight and the Texas heat are not a good mix. Vin Mazzaro can't maintain his grip on a reasonable ERA nor his slider grip as once again Ray Fosse calls it in the pregame, stating "Mazzarro always hangs one slider during the game." Except this time it was half a dozen. David Murphy puts one over the stands into the concession area startling the patrons there, who immediately start mouthing "Josh". But Hamilton was held to 3 for 4 with a double. Bengie's replacement, last year's September Superman Taylor Teagarden (Gator: assonance and alliteration in 4 words, just for you) gets his second hit of the season (you read that right) a blast into the jet stream to raise his average to .067. Still, Mazzarro is progressing. He's about where Cahill was a year ago. Anderson goes tonight as the A's throw 3 lefties at the White Sox. Any bets on how long before Anderson has his 3rd bout of forearm tightness this season?

Good day for the Feesh. Sanchez throws a gem, Stanton continues to acclimate himself, Logan Morrison settles in, Cantu is euthanized at the Scrooge McLoria friendly price of 10% of this year's salary, and the nightmare at third base is over. The Feesh summoned forth Hector Luna from AAA and will test him at third for a while, which, if successful, should make Kindly Uncle Wes, his encroaching senescence and his .247 expendable, and Wes can get on with becoming a manager someday. The Feesh re-engage with the strange attractor and go face the Padres' superb pitching staff in splendid mediocrity.

Craig, I would love to see a post on break out stars this season across the league. You know, guys who seem to have a fork stuck in them, but turn it around and wow everyone. I, like most fans can't follow the entire league and see who flipped things upside down. Like Dickey, Myers, even Cairo who is hitting like he's a kid again but looked like a washed up bench guy with the Phills last season. I love it when the underdogs get a leg up, ya know Captain morgan style and all... I think it might even be fun. Anyway, just a thought on something I'd like to see.
