Miguel Batista, on what he hopes will happen tonight when he meets nemesis/new friend Katherine Connors (aka Miss Iowa) at Nationals Park:
Hopefully she says, “Oh, he was a cool. He looked like a low-budget Vin Diesel, but he was nice.”
I can kind of see the resemblance. And if Batista turns this whole thing into a date, he should go into the Hall of Fame. Not for baseball. Just for life.

Is this guy the Latin John Kruk? Baseball sure does employ some characters.

That was his plan all along. He knew exactly what he was doing when he name dropped Miss Iowa.

If he turns this into a date, he becomes the next faux talk show host on the ExtenZe infomercials.

Miguel Batista is indeed a character, but not like John Kruk. He is very well read and literate. I don’t know of any other players nicknamed “Renaissance Man.” Dan Quisenberry wrote a book of poetry, but not many others I can think of have done that either.
It’d be terrific if he gets a date of this. I’m rooting for him!
