Last time I looked, the Yankees still have the best record in baseball. BTW, where did all of those Tampa fans come from last night? I guess supporting your team is only cool when the Yankees come to town. Screw cheering for them when they’re playing the rest of the league!

I agree. WE need to grow up. Shut down this sensless blog – after all, it covers the juvenile game of baseball and distracts us from the important things in life. I think WE should take it one step further: outlaw baseball for anyone over the age of 18. You can’t play, watch, listen to, or think of baseball if you are over the age of 18. WE need to do something NOW, before we are lost. The United States is lagging behind Asia, and WE have noone to blame but baseball. GROW UP, AMERICA! Geez…

Jason_96 – Just to smooth your ruffled feathers and sweeten-up the sour grapes you seem to be ingesting, the beloved Yankees paid approximately $25.7 million in “Luxury Tax” in 2009. The amount is about a 40% tax rate. Whatever small market team you might pull for, shared in this “hand-out”. Tampa Bay can compete through bringing up farm system players, why not all the others? The Yankees prefer to go the “easy” route. Who wouldn’t want their team to be in this position? Now, let’s hear more whining.
To the rest of the haters, don’t worry about the Yankees losing a regular season game every now and then, regardless of the amount of the payroll. Worry about playing them in October. Don’t you wish you could say that about your team? Out…

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Another old man in the lineup for the Yanks. He’s a had a great career, but Berk’s having a bad year and again, he’s old. Let’s see how he does in the AL as a DH, which can be a difficult adjustment for a career NL position player. Exhibit A: Burrell, Pat.

Last time I looked RAYS 3 YANKS 2 enough said. I guess the Yanks do need to add to their already Monster payroll. Amazingly they have a 210 million payroll now to the rays 60 and they have to add more to beat them.

I’m sure that if any of the other teams had the revenue the Yanks do, they would purchase the big names as well. Why do so many people play the “bought the world series” angle? Look at the Phillies, or the RedSox. The big names that don’t get snatched by the Yankees always go somewhere, so every other team does it, just to a smaller scale. Yeesh, I was just trying to have a little fun, don’t be so catty.

Grown men going on and on about baseball as though they’re personally involved. It’s all
the “we” shit and I’m sure they wear their Yankee jerseys to the game and might even take a glove.
Peter Pans. I was a Yankee fan growing up- even before TV-I would listen to Mel Allen and keep
a scorebook of the game- there were only 8 teams then so every kid that followed baseball knew
every lineup- at least for the league they followed and some knew all 16 teams lineups. In the summer
we played baseball every day and many would imitate batting stances of famous players- BUT we were kids- today grown men act like little twerps arguing about whose team is best- who they need to trade for-
who’s coming up in the farm system- what happened to MEN.

Why should anyone give up something for two months of the ghost of Lance Berkman? He’s having the worst season of his career and if he finds a team next year it will be on the Abreu pricing plan, a far shot from his current salary.
And I still can’t fathom why the Yankees want him. The only possible gain is the hope that in a field with little league dimensions he’ll get his SLG% back over .500. But at the cost of not having the DH spot open for Posada and the rest of the geriatrics? And when its the bullpen that needs help, not the offense?
