Darryl Strawberry is opening up a restaurant

Aug 2, 2010, 4:58 PM EDT

HBT has been going strong since April 2009, but in that time I have not once met any of my fellow HBT bloggers face-to-face (I met Aaron once back in 2008).  We should probably remedy that, and the way we should do it is a road trip to Queens where we can all break bread at Darryl Strawberry’s new restaurant.

Here’s the menu.

Here’s a slide show of the joint.

I can’t imagine the place not being the best restaurant named after a former ballplayer with substance abuse problems in that particular part of Queens.

I like the horsemeat and velveeta egg rolls. Why don’t we all meet there for a drink, then go over to Rust Staub’s place for some real food.

Did you see that Gator? They have horsemeat and Velveeta egg rolls! Your two favorite cuisines in one tasty package.

It’s actually a pretty nice area, and I expect Straw to do well there.

I’m in. Let’s make a reservation to watch Game 1 of the Yankees-Marlins World Series.

Ga-hack! Do they take reservations that many years in advance?

Yeah, I picked up on it right away. See my opening gambit above. Gotta run – watched Rays trip Twins, now got Borg vs. Feather Lice on the tube.

Craig, any time you want to drive down I-71 to the Great American Small Park, let me know. I’ll buy the first round.

I sure hope he made sure to contract with Pepsi for the soft drinks… jus’ sayin’
