Marlins’ outfielder/3B Chris Coghlan may soon begin
taking ground balls and taking batting practice, which is a sign that he will be putting
off knee surgery until after the season. Assuming a medical exam he was scheduled to have last night turned up nothing crazy, Coghlan could soon be sent
out for a rehab assignment soon.
I dunno, man. That was a pretty serious injury. Such an ambitious rehab schedule seems like pie in the sky to me.

I hope he doesn’t come back too quick and hurt himself worse….then he would really have pie all over his face.

Seems too quick to me, too – especially if the Feesh are serious about turning him back into a third baseman, with all the extra turn, twist and pivot requirements that’ll add to the knee. Look, the Feesh aren’t really going anywhere this season, nifty little mini-streaks notwithstanding. Is it really worth jeopardizing Coghlan’s knee for the long term? I mean, the guy is still a ways from arbitration, Scrooge. What’re you worried about?
