Comment of the Day: The Yankees are having lots of babies

Aug 10, 2010, 2:29 PM EDT

Today we learn a little bit about math and biology.

This from reader CG in the Mark Teixeria’s-wife-is-having-a-baby-thread:

Fun fact: CC and his wife had a baby a few days ago. Teixeira and his wife are having a baby any day now. Around 9 months ago the Yanks won the World Series.

You know what he’s saying, right? I mean, I don’t have to spell it out for you, do I?  Fine, I will: The Yankees are so phat with money that they’re now giving players live human children as World Series bonuses!

Is there nothing Hal Steinbrenner can’t buy?!!!

Craig, for the first time ever, EVER, you almost made me piss my pants laughing.

It’s a good thing I went right before reading this.

  3. geoknows - Aug 10, 2010 at 2:56 PM

Whew! And here all the time I thought it was something else that caused babies!

  4. BC - Aug 10, 2010 at 2:58 PM

Same reason why November has the most births. The ‘ol Valentine’s Day Special.

Except that Sabathia didn’t win a game and Teixeira hit .136. The kids aren’t bonuses–they’re punishment.

I’m honored, I think that was my first post. Thanks Craig!

Great.. Glad Teixeira is going to miss games to bring a horrible, smelly, self-absorbed child into the world. Knock up your wife in March so she’ll have the kid in December.. It’s all about planning, Marky.. Stop being so selfish.. Christ..

    Dad? Is that you?

  10. JimmyY - Aug 10, 2010 at 3:24 PM

Gee, those are only the legitimate ones. What about those born out of the confines of wedlock, both married and single players? If you can get a head count of those then I’d be impressed.

Because it’s always a competition between the Red Sox and Yankees, I’ll point out that Lester and Buchholz recently had babies, and Lackey’s wife is due this month, too.

Hell, Cole Hamels had to LEAVE A PLAYOFF game last season with a police escort to get to the hospital for his kid’s birth.

Looks like Rex Ryan is due any day now also.
    Just sayin

Seems sort of odd that Buchholz, Lester, and Lackey were also celebrating the Yankees’ championship, but whatever works for them. ;)

So Lester and Buchholz are going on the DL?? I need to know for my fantasy team

  16. Kiwicricket - Aug 10, 2010 at 5:29 PM

    Is Jason Werth the father?

  17. Kiwicricket - Aug 10, 2010 at 6:08 PM

Once again, Jeter leads the ‘all time’ list….
