Don’t worry minnesconsin, all will be clear after the 2 Sox-Twins series over the next 2 weeks. To be quite honest, I think the winner of the combined 6 game series will end up taking the division, that’s how important these games are.

I was confused for a second when you said future Ace. Thought you were talking about Hughes and I was like “Hughes in Texas???” but I realized moments later you meant Cliff Lee.
I still think when Lee signs that CC will still be the #1 starter.

A good point! Though Gonzalez played elsewhere, his longest tenure was in Arizona and he certainly experienced the pinnacle of his career there and is most identified as a Diamondback. Johnson, on the other hand, was a Mariner longer than he was he was a D-Back and had very memorable stints elsewhere. Plus, I just don’t like the guy.

I think the Diamondbacks are waiting for Randy Johnson to make it into the Hall of Fame before they retire his number. According to Derrick Hall, the team’s GM, it’ll work that way for any future Diamondbacks stars. Gonzales was a special case. He’s not a Hall-of-Famer, but he is associated with some of our favorite moments. And I suspect the team was eager to join in the the number-retirement, giant-jersey-hanging tradition. It’s kind of like decorating a tree in August, because you really want it to be Christmas.

Universe has historically been pretty good vs. Wild West Wranglers in the lower forty between Tech-and-Cow Towns. Now we have AJ and Javy vs. Wilson and our proposed-and-future ace, what are the results to be? Ahh… but then off to friendly confines of Kaufmann.
What to do, what to do? How about some gol-darn hitting by leaving the lineup alone!

craig, come on now. Twins & Sox have identical records, tied for first in the central. Since the all-star break, the Sox are 14-11, the Twins 17-7.
They both just played series against bad teams – Baltimore and Cleveland. Sox dropped 3 of 4 to the Orioles, Twins took 2 of 3 from the Indians. Going back to the Tampa series, the Twins have won 4 of the last 5.
who’s the hotter team?

Hee hee hee – can’t wait to hear what “Proudly Canadian” has to say about the ranking of the Feather Lice, which ranking I find, well, questionable considering how they manhandled both the Borg and the Rays lately. And if the Borg still ranks way up there after a two-week funk, one wonders what they have to do to slip out of first – pitch the FAT TOAD (Bufo obessitia) every day, like Baseball Bugs?
