I'm astounded that the Giants recap has no mention of the Cubs big goof: the player on first rounded second on what ended up being a fly out at the wall; he made it back to first in time but didn't touch second on the way back, so after a moment of confusion, the Giants tagged him out while he was standing on first.

Boring game # 2 in the Boring Seattle Series. Can't say enough about the King, though. His circle change (where are you, Mike Mussina?) was 10 mph slower than his 96 mph heat, and had a great drop at the plate. Kid Carter struck out again on an outside slider. Please return to Sacramento. Meanwhile, everyone is watching the Rangers-Yankees series on their handhelds. Even the A's announcers pronounced the Seattle crowd "small". And they're used to Mausoleum sized crowds. And they gave us regular Texas-Yankees updates. Only good news for the A's is that Chad Pennington has robbed Ichiro of three hits up the middle in the two games so far, if you call that good.

Unfortunately for the Phightins, the pitching and defense took the night off while the bats were red hot. The decisive sign that the matchup was beyond their grasp was when Rollins tripped over second while a pitch was sent into center field. Hopefully the bats stay hot and Andre Ethier somehow needs to tend to Teixeira's kid and misses the rest of the series.

Strasburg was just rusty, throwing well into the 90s but with very poor location, consistently behind the Feesh clubsmen - seven doubles and a dinger last night, with Hanley Ramirez resurgent and Anibal Sanchez having more problems with his own fielders than with the Gnats hitters. So what else is new? Newbie Will Ohman ends the game on a clutch-your-heart moonshot by Adam Dunn that just barely failed to achieve orbital insertion velocity and died in Logan Morrison's glove right up against the left-center fence. And the Feesh managed to remain a nifty nine behind the Braves, which, I expect, is where they'll still be on October 1, clinging for dear life to the bottom of the strange attractor.

Well, more daylight between the Braves and the Phillies. 9 runs wasn't enough last night, it was like BP for both teams. It was just a sloppy, poorly excecuted game. And I was waiting for this, Kendrick has a BP session at least once every 4 games.

Actually, I would bet both teams are warned before first pitch and the first "purpose" pitch that is up around the head or anyone that looks like they threw at someone will be gone.

Craig, Cards-Reds game today will feature the Reds throwing at several Cardinal batter (Molina is my guess as the first one to hit the dirt). It is simply how Dusty rolls. Bad pitching matchup today for the Reds, so Baker with try to get Waino tossed.

Go Reds...but whether they go on to win the division or not, Phillips is an utter moron. A Reds-Cards rivalry wasn't going to develop into openly bad blood because both teams are too classy for that, especially given how many ex-players the two has. Phillips tried to create bad blood, thus making him a moron, and Dusty should have slapped the stupid out of him for doing so. I was hoping that going 1-for-10 with a strikeout so far in the series will do what no one else can (give Phillips a dose of common sense), but I'm not holding my breath. Becoming a smurf isn't on my bucket list.
