What a coincidence…as soon as Carlos Beltran arrived back with his old friends David Wright and Jose Reyes, the Mutts have gone from contenders to pretenders once again. Yeah, you can quote all the statistics you want from the last few years, or as they are known at CitiField, “The Choking Years”. Beltran in 2007 was .480/.560/.850? Wright was .510/.730/.990? Reyes stole 200 bases and hit .490? It all doesn’t matter. In the grand scheme of things, these three guys together have done nothing but choke since game 7, when Carlos Beltran struck out looking with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 9th. 2007? EPIC CHOKE. 2008? Not quite EPIC, but still a choke. 2009? Blame it on the injuries. 2010? Blame it on the rain. The only thing that can make this season completely awesome for those of us who hate the Mutts would be extensions for one and all…Reyes? Omar? Manuel? 5 more years for them all. Woo Hoo!!!!!

This is definitely shaping up as an alltime epic season for the Mutts. BC was doubtless thinking something along the lines of "what else could possibly go wrong," but then tried to think about something else because of his sheer horror that the answer might be a contract extension for Omar Minaya.
