Phillies activate Shane Victorino

Aug 12, 2010, 3:00 PM EDT

One All-Star back, two more to go: the Phillies have activated Shane Victorino, reports Matt Gelb.

The surprising part: to make toom for Victorino, the Phils have optioned Antonio Bastardo.  Many folks thought that they’d send Domonic Brown down instead.

Wait? What’s that?  Sorry, folks. Just got a note from the guild. Seems I forgot to mention — as I am required to do so by law — that Shane Victorino is from Hawaii.  Which he is.

i’m glad you realized to mention that he is from Hawaii as it seems to be a requirement when writing about Shane. You should probably mention Kurt Suzuki and his hawaiin heritage too, you know, just to be on the safe side.

Now if we get the rest of our guys back to go with Shane (the Hawaiin) we are in a good spot

Nice….. Shane Victorino (the Hawaii native) will be a welcome addition. Can Dom Brown play first base? Hmmm? I think I know why he has such good patience at the plate. He’s got like an under 3 ERA, pitching……. yeah, that’s right, he was a pretty good pitcher when drafted, so I hear.

Not sending Dom Brown back down is a sign that Gload is going to be out a long time. Nice to see ShirtStain Victorino (the Hawaiin) back in the lineup and in CF.

It’s good to have Shane “Flyin’ Hawaiian” Victorino back. Now the whole eight men in the bullpen move makes somewhat more sense, especially since they imploded the other night–but it was less noticeable, what with KK’s kollapse.
