Bellisario head wasn’t in the game. His balk was a fake throw to third when no one was even on third. It even confused the umps. They didn’t call it till Charlie came out and then the umps had to confer to decide if it was a balk.

MLB.com has video of a little kid in the front row putting the hex on Broxton the whole time he was on the mound. It apparently worked.

Hi Craig, your writing is fun and cool. Just curious, not being picky, really, but you say when broxton entered he allowed 3 runners and then ruiz knocked in the winning run. Not sure how this computes, seems with the score 9-6 entering the 9th that this would be the tying run not the winning run. Possibly I am missing something. Take care.

This is just another piece of the Phillies ascension to post-season status this year but for the Dodgers, this is a crippling blow. It’s not just an unexpected loss, it’s the type of meltdown that shakes the confidence of the entire organization and inspires teams to give up on the season and think about next year.
