The broadcast can be enhanced, and SHOULD be enhanced, by comments peppered throughout that have little, if anything to do with the game going on, or even baseball itself. It’s 3+ hours of air time, for cryin’ out loud! I personally think that just about ANY of these guys in the booth can do play by play or color, it’s the OTHER stuff they talk about that differentiates one from another…

With all the knucklehead broadcasters out there… No way in hell we can call out everybody that doesn’t “enhance the broadcast” with every comment.
90% of these guys are crap.

While he doesn’t necessarily need to apologize, he should be called out for simply saying something stupid and unnecessary. Did it enhance the broadcast? As a former player and color analyst, isn’t he being paid to bring unique insight to the game that he has because he was involved in it? If that’s all he had left to say at that moment, then they need someone new. Any one with half a brain would have ignored it or made a flippant comment about how they must be talking about what ails the Nationals and the moves they need to make in order to make the team better….
My guess is they were talking about how lame Dibble is as an announcer, how annoying his voice is and they were thinking of people to replace him.
He must have been watching another in the series of Keith Hernandez “How-Not-To” videos. But, at least he was awake…….

I agree. And worse, once they know you’re willing to apologize to them, you’re dog meat. I’m going to have to send Rob a collection of Nietzsche’s aphorisms about women. Strengthen his spine a little. And from the sound of his politically correct snivelling, maybe something else. Whereas it’s true that Nietzsche wrote these insightful comments he was in the throes of syphilitic paresis and didn’t know it, they still have a ring of ineluctable truth to them. Here’s a sample: “When thou goest in to woman,” Rob, “forget not thy whip.”

Have you ever listened to people talk at a game?
They usually ARE talking about something stupid. If they were interested in the game, they’d STFU and pay attention to it.
