Via Wezen-Ball comes the transcript of Vin Scully trying to make sense of Troy Tulowitzki’s mullet last night. I haven’t heard the audio, but the transcript makes him sound about as smooth with this as he is with everything else:
. . . he made an off-balance throw and he got Blake at first base and, in
reading the Colorado paper about the game, they said his throw was just a
little bit longer than the mullet that he wears . . . And I remember reading that and I thought
‘Mullet? Mullet’s a fish!’ So, we went on the computer and it’s both!
It’s a hairdo and a fish. But there’s nothing fishy about this kid – he
can really play. Troy batting .321.
I’m convinced that Scully could recite the entire lyrical canon of Motley Crue and make it sound like a million bucks based just on his delivery.

He’s so awesome. Poz printed up the transcript of his Gibson HR call and it was wonderful. Maybe a bit too much tinkerbell for my tastes though.

“When we started this band
All we needed, needed was a laugh
Years gone by…
I’d say we’ve kicked some ass
When I’m enraged
Or hittin’ the stage
Adrenaline rushing
Through my veins
And I’d say we’re still kicking ass
Ooo, Ahh, Kickstart my heart
Hope it never stops
And to think, we did all of this
To rock
I would say Mr Scully has his work cut out Craig

If he manages to pull that off…..
there is always this
“I got my finger in the pie
My hand in the cookie jar
It’s just a lick and a promise
In the back seat of my car”
The mind boggles.

I was watching that game – he revisited the mullet theme several times in the game after this quote. Vin is the best.

That’s great… it’s like something the Simpsons version of Vin Scully would say.
