T.J. Simers of the Los Angeles Times published an incredibly revealing article on Saturday night about the relationship between the Dodgers, their fans, Matt Kemp and agent Dave Stewart.

In it you’ll find Stewart as an overbearing and overly self-conscious agent and Kemp as a talented but confused 25-year-old.  Simers’ headline says it best: “Matt Kemp’s agent is an albatross around his neck.”  And here’s your quote of the day:

“Do you think for one moment I care about the town of L.A. or the fans there?” Stewart wrote in an e-mail.  [Kemp is] going to be a great major league player.  It
doesn’t have to be [in L.A.]. …The big picture is he doesn’t have to
play [in L.A.]. There are 29 teams out there.”

That kind of talk is fine for an impending free agent, but Kemp is under contract with the Dodgers for at least two more seasons.  Given the outfielder’s age and extraordinary level of talent, any sort of trade would be of the blockbuster variety.  And we don’t see many of those these days.

Stewart has always thought too highly of himself and trying to be a tough guy but comes across as an ass, sorry, that’s the way it is. Here’s hoping his clients can see through him and realize they’d be better off without him.

    Closet queer

MrSteve, what does that have to do with anything. Take your homophobia elsewhere, lets talk some baseball.
On topic, I usually dislike Simers immensely, but that article was fantastic, and the last line echoed immediately what I thought when Stewart started spouting off, how much is Matt gonna like what his agent had to say if he’s sitting in Kansas City. I think the Dodgers would be more than happy to obtain a guy like Zack Greinke if they could.
Who knows, maybe that’s the type of guy Kemp is. Maybe as long as he puts up good numbers a no pressure situation like KC or someplace like that would be just fine for him as long as his stats are pretty. If that’s the case, good riddance I say.
Oh, and D-Stew, maybe you should wait until you actually reach Scott Boras status before you start acting like the big dog in town.

Easy fix for arrogance like that. Trade him to the orioles or pirates for a high draft pick and some bats.

We get it. Your in the closet. Take the bigotry elsewhere.

Weird. I read some of the criticism targeted at Kemp this year but didn’t think it would lead to anything. What’s the sense in Dodger Nation about Kemp’s future? Is he trying to talk his way out of town? What’s the deal?
