Bad omen? Skydiver gets stuck on Rangers Ballpark flagpole

Aug 25, 2010, 12:19 AM EDT

The Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins for the second straight night on Tuesday, a nice confidence builder for the Rangers after being handed their lunch by the Rays the week before.

But perhaps the real excitement came before the game, when a U.S. Army skydiver was snared by a flagpole as he was descending into the ballpark during a pregame jump. (And no, it was not this guy).

All of the other skydivers landed on the field on a breezy night, and fortunately no one was hurt. Rangers fans should just hope this is not a bad omen for their playoff hopes.

As someone who would have to be shoved out of the plane, I’m not going to criticize or make fun of this guy, who was a member of the “Golden Knights.” I will, however, share video of the incident.

Bad Omen? I think it was more like Bad Aim.

Sure beats the traditional pitchfork in the haystack, though.
And anyway, what’s the big deal? I used to date a paralegal and she did this stuff every day.

Oddly enough I dated a web designer who used to do this stuff as well.

Sometimes you watch Carl Povano get a lead & he just gives it right back & his 94 mph fastball is suddenly 89. I wouldn’t be shocked to find he throws games or is a gambling addict.

Could be a GOOD omen, with the jumper merely identifying the flagpole upon which the World Series flag will fly…

This nearly happened at the July 3rd Rays vs. Twins game at Target Field. Except the guy didn’t get the flagpole, he just crashed into the right field wall. Must have been a Rodney McCray fan.
