I've been saying this for a while, and nobody anywhere seems to want to pick it up. There is NO RACE in the American League East. The Yankers and the Rays are going to the playoffs. There is NO WAY the Red Sox are going to get back into contention, with all their injuries. They are missing 1/2 of their starting lineup (Ellsbury, Cameron, Youkilis, Pedroia) for the rest of the season. AMAZINGLY, they still have the 5th or 6th best record in all of baseball, but unfortunately, they are in the same division as #1 and #2. This weekend proved what I am saying...they gutted out a big win Friday night, but reality hit Saturday and Sunday as they lost tough games because they couldn't get the timely hit that Youk or Pedroia were known for. Usually, with a Billion Dollar payroll, a team should have no excuses, but the Red Sox are chock full of them this year, and deservedly so.

There may not be a stretch run if the Yankees don't do something about AJ Burnett , like keeping him out of the rotation . Now that Ivan Nova has shown he is for real , there is no reason to put Burnett back in the rotation . Burnett can be a long man out of the pen or just use him for mop up duty . As for the other loser , Javy Vazquez , replace him with Sergio Mitre . Mitre's been improving every time out lately . I noticed his fast ball is up to 93-94 the other night when Burnett got lit up . There is no time to waste by putting these two losers in the rotation . They have proven they can't do the job . Thank God Vazquez is history after this year , but the Yankees are stuck with Burnett unless they can find a team dumber than they were to take him .
