Manny Ramirez's Dodger career ends on a high note

Aug 30, 2010, 8:53 AM EDT

Actually, things never end well for Manny. They just end.

Here’s hoping the good people at Major League Baseball don’t take this video of Manny Ramirez’s last at bat as a Dodger down from You Tube. Because the fan’s commentary as Manny gets ejected for arguing balls and strikes on the only pitch he saw yesterday is added value that the MLB.com feed just won’t provide.

What does it tell you that Torre didn’t even come out to defend his player? Sad end to what has become a sad season for the boys in blue.

Um, that Joe Torre has class? (That’s a rhetorical question, Phil)

    That Torre is a douche.
Can’t wait to hear all the shit talk he spills on Manny in his new book, The Dodger Years: Wait, I’m Still a Great Manager, Really!!

We may never know how many times Manny played in pain, took endless batting practice etc. He is the consummate hitman.
Sadly he demonstrated all the things we never want our kids to copy: careless personal appearance, indifference to team standards, dogging it in the outfield and basepaths and (what appeared to be) an unwillingness to subordinate himself to the team’s greater good. There is a loveable side to Manny…he is the ultimate “noble savage” in a regimented business world. Manny is not a bad man, probably not even a bad teammate….just will never be the poster child for MLB. I wish him well.

Wow, reason, nuance, and insight, skysoxwiz. Nice. But why do you hate America?
