Bud Selig is pretty darn happy with baseball's PED testing

Aug 31, 2010, 5:59 PM EDT

Bud Selig was on the Dan Patrick Show today and the subject of Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and steroids came up. After noting that, no, he doesn’t expect to be a witness in those cases, he defended baseball’s drug testing program and even got a little defiant about it:

“So, where are all these people five and six and seven years ago that
were pontificating? The fact of the matter is the sport
has never been cleaner than it is today.”

The fact of the matter is also that those people from six and seven years ago are still pontificating, sadly. As they would no matter what baseball did about PED testing. These are the same people who want to ban caffeine and oxygen and stuff.

As for the “baseball has never been cleaner than it is today,” stuff. OK, maybe. But given that baseball has basically never, ever been really clean, that’s not a tremendous claim.

Selig has been an absolute embarassment to the sport of baseball for the past twenty years. He is as clueless as a person can be and every time he speaks he further proves it. The only time he sounds intelligent is when he keeps his mouth shut.

    The irony here kills me.

With a user name like that you should talk about being an embarassment, fool.

    Selig is a douche.

And is that somehow a reference to me? If so, did I offend you somehow?

I used to always say, nobody goes to the games to see owners own. But now that Bud is getting a statue and George is going into monument park, maybe the joke is on me. A sign of the times I guess. Can’t wait for the Connie Mack statue outside of the Phillies Park.

Watching the game last night night had me thinking about how hard it is to hit a ball out of Dodgers stadium. Three people have done it. Two are implicated in steroid use. One with “greenies”. The one is a first ballot hall of famer who did it twice. Things that make you go hmmmm? And seriously question the whole, “steroids don’t help you hit the ball farther ” crowd. Of course Stargell more than likely didn’t use roids, but two out of three guys did.

Bud Seligs’ head has been in the sand or somewhere else for a great many years and it is still there. My advice to him would be, it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. He has been nothing short of a disaster for the game of baseball.

Oxygen does not help hitters hit home runs.

Of course he is! You know what they say, “Ignorance is bliss!”.
