Oh yeah, and by the way, Boras is demanding $180 plus, on the basis of Teixeria’s deal, but given that 1.) Fielder isn’t as good as Teixeria and 2.) the Yankees aren’t going to be bidders on him, I think Ryan Howard money is a lot more realistic.

That’s actually a pretty solid record. The really disastrous contracts are Soriano, Zambrano (yay Cubs), Wells, Hampton, Griffey, Lee, and I guess Zito, although he’s at least durable. Howard’s contract will probably be awful, Mauer’s COULD go bad, I’m not crazy about Holliday’s deal, and I guess A-Rod’s current deal isn’t looking great, but it’s not like the Yankees actually care. Still, that’s better than your prediction (

Someone should do a study on how often large, long-term contracts in baseball work out to the signing team’s satisfaction. I imagine the percentage is no better than 50. For every Alex Rodriguez there is a corresponding Alfonso Soriano.

Seriously though, well that would be the best, most fittingest nick name ever, the O’s have a huge hole at 1B…and Prince just happens to be a pretty big guy…
