Jon Lester records fourth straight 10-K game

With 12 strikeouts in a gem against the Mariners on Monday, Jon Lester became the first pitcher since Jake Peavy in 2007 to fan 10 batters in four straight starts.
He’s the sixth different pitcher to have such a streak since 2000:
1. Randy Johnson – 7 starts in 2001
2. Randy Johnson – 6 starts in 2000
2. Randy Johnson – 6 starts in 2002
4. Pedro Martinez – 5 starts in 2000
4. Pedro Martinez – 5 starts in 2001
4. Johan Santana – 5 starts in 2004
7. Pedro Astacio – 4 starts in 2000
7. Randy Johnson – 4 starts in 2000
7. Randy Johnson – 4 starts in 2004
7. Jake Peavy – 4 starts in 2007
7. Jon Lester – 4 starts in 2010
Lester has won all four of his starts during the streak and is now 17-8 with a 3.17 ERA for the season. He’s tied for third in baseball with 208 strikeouts, six behind Felix Hernandez and three behind Jered Weaver.

    How the eff did Pedro Astacio sneak on there?
    Although the scarier thing is that he pitched 15 years and retired with a winning record.
