yea, but the fact that it is that way and no one has a problem with it should tell you something. Jeters the captian, way too popular til recently, and was clutch for years. he would still be an allstar, and you expect more power from center fielders than shortstops. And i hate jeter, yankees and the red sox.

Biggio will have no trouble making the HOF, it will be surprising if he isn’t a 1st ballot guy, definitely will make it in his second year (if not the 1st).

A little south it is Ozzie Smith, Biggio, Banks, Eddie Murray. Dead even with Edmunds is Tony Gwynn. He is in mixed company of "1st ballot hall of famers", and you people don't think he belongs at all?

Probably not in HOF. He’s kind of in the group with Todd Helton, Andruw Jones, maybe Jeff Bagwell. First ballot Hall-Of-The-Very-Good-er though.

For perspective, Derek Jeter has rarely if ever been the best player on his own team; he may have been for a couple of years in the 90s, but not since then…and it isn’t close. If All-star ballots had a infield position and you could vote for 4 guys, Jeter would be lucky to have made 4 All-Star teams (as the ballot would have been dominated by 1B, just like AS voting in the OF is dominated by all-hit/no-field RF and LF).

At some point, people will stop considering all outfielders as a group. Comparing a CF to a LF is like comparing a SS to a 1B. The defensive value of a top notch CF should not be ignored. Edmonds is a top 10 CF in the history of baseball. Top 10, all-time at a prime position, that isn’t a HOFer? Really?

the guy was a good player but not a hof one let alone a first ballot guy. he made some good plays but always seemed to be diving at balls even when he did not need to.just because he played for the cards does not automaticly make him a hof player. the reds had a pretty good centerfielder on the big red machine who was every bit as good if not better than edmonds. and if the chief ceasar cedano isn’t in then edmonds doesn’t get in either.besides catching everything the guy had a cannon for an arm.

No question Edmonds is a HoF. Compared to his peers only Griffey Jr or Andruw Jones have an argument for being a better CF over the last 15-20 years. He looks bad in the counting stats , but an 11 year peak where a CF hits 293/388/554 (141 OPS+) with plus defense is a first ballot HoF as far as I’m concerned. It’d be criminal to leave a guy like Edmonds out of the HoF.

nope, not a hall of famer, pretty good/consistant for a long time tho
