Video: Mauer and Thome, with beer dripping from their caps, think everything is "great"

Sep 22, 2010, 9:14 AM EDT

If Joe Mauer and Jim Thome wanted to, they could probably set themselves up as co-benevolent dictators of The Kingdom of the Lakes and no one would bat an eye. It’d be all “what sort of cured meats would you like brought to you today, your highnesses?”  Then Thome would be all like “Oh, sit down. I already have some burgers on the grill for everyone. And don’t worry! I brought the pop!”  Because I’d bet my life that Thome says “pop” instead of “soda.”

OK, I lost my train of thought. Just watch the video. Jim Thome, by the way, thinks everything is “great.”  Man, I just want to hug him.

Just curious Craig…after Thome goes 1-14 in the ALDS and they get swept AGAIN…will you still think the same thing? LOL.
p.s. I’m just messing with you Twinkies fans…you guys are more sensitive than the Phillies fans.

Al Gore would be proud of you for reusing your material. Get a life dude

Twins fans are pretty chipper. Gotta be to live in the frozen north. The attitude is, “better to lose in the playoffs than to be from Wisconsin!”

As a lifelong Minnesotan, it would not be odd at all to here him say I brought the pop. Its generally what is said in Minnesota. In my experience its only those that have moved to Minnesota that say soda.

Jim Thome moved to Minnesota. However, he was born in Illinois, so I’d bet he says pop.

And then all the players drove home.
Unfortunately, Tyler Colvin make us forget Nick Adenhart.
I’m all for a good and proper celebration (even when there aren’t things to celebrate), but at the risk of sounding like a beer commercial, we should do so responsibly. I’m fine with celebrating on company property. But the fact that owners let their million dollar employees drive home afterward just seems stupidly silly to me.

Err, how do you know they drove home?

How do you know they drove? Do you have some sort of access we don’t?

Thanks for showing up, Debbie Downer. Must be a Pale Hose fan.
Did anyone else watch the A’s-Sox game and listen to Hawk pout the whole night? That was just as good as watching the boys soak each other in alcohol. And regarding Thome, I’m pretty sure I saw him telling people “I love you, man” with tears in his eyes during the celebration. Such a great night. Say what you will about past Twins’ playoff teams, but the 2010 version is destined for a World Series title just so that we can send Jim off as he should be.

Yep, I think he wants to pull the old “John Elway” and go out a winner. If anyone deserves a WS championship, Thome would be the guy. I find it hard to believe that he wasn’t a part of one, but he wasn’t.

Part of winning one, I should say…
