Adam Wainwright’s last start came last Friday, which means that he had one more start in him if everything was going fine. It wasn’t going fine, however — he had an MRI yesterday that revealed a muscle strain in his right
forearm — so the Cards are shutting him down.
Makes sense. The Cards are done and Wainwright has nothing else to prove this year. He finishes the season at 20-11 with a 2.42 ERA in 33 starts with 213 Ks and only 56 walks. He’d probably be my number two vote for the Cy Young this season, but he’ll likely get some number one support as well.

He said he actually hurt himself sleeping. I’ve heard of waking up with a stiff neck, but a strained forearm?

I never understood why they called it an ‘Inverted W’ instead of just an ‘M.’

An inverted W is different than an M. Just look… they’re both right there in that first sentence I wrote.
