About those flyover cameras for the playoffs

Oct 1, 2010, 6:58 PM EDT

Just spoke with one of my operatives in Braves nation, who has a report on those flyover cameras FOX will be using for the playoffs. And which — I did not realize — are being tested this weekend for the Braves-Phillies series. The verdict: no worries about the cameras or the wires interfering with game action:

As currently constructed in Turner Field, there is no way at all that the wires could interfere with a ball in play. Well, unless Ankiel returns to pitching. The whole setup is completely out of play.

So, while I’m generally all for assuming the worst of the people at FOX, in this case, they seem to have it covered.

As soon as someone says, “there is no way at all”, you know that a way will be found.

“The designers and engineers decided, in their innocence, to build a prototype Improbability Field into it, which was meant, supposedly, to ensure that it was Infinitely Improbable that anything would ever go wrong with any part of the ship.

They did not realize that because of the quasi-reciprocal and circular nature of all Improbability calculations, anything that was Infinitely Improbable was actually very likely to happen almost immediately.”

Yeah. This is going to end badly.
