Congratulations Adrian Beltre and Shane Victorino

Oct 1, 2010, 4:25 PM EDT

Shane Victorino is not with the Phillies today. Adrian Beltre is not with the Red Sox today. Why? Victorino’s wife had a baby last night and Beltre’s wife just went into labor this afternoon.  This almost certainly ends Beltre’s season. Victorino will obviously join the Phillies before the playoffs start.

On behalf of the entire HardballTalk team, I would like to congratulate Shane Victorino and Adrian Beltre for having a way better New Year’s Eve than most of us did.

Alright…I’ll be the first (well, here anyway). Now, the Flyin’ Hawaiian has a Cryin’ Hawaiian. There. Carry on.

Oh, and congrats, Shane. Let’s give Kingston a World Series title!!!!

Not gonna lie, I wouldn’t have been as quick to rush back onto the field from the injury Beltre had. That took some series cojones.
Okay, I really have to find a way to stop making jokes about Adrian Bel-TRAY’s nuts. Just because he only has the balls to play well in contract years…

At least Victorino was able to get his wife pregnant early enough so it didn’t interfere in the playoffs, unlike Cole Hamels last season. Does anybody else think these players should have a bit better timing and either be going into labor in the offseason or at least much earlier in the regular season?

I saw the headline, made a New Year’s joke, realized that would be ten months, and then read the article.

There are 14 weeks left in the year. If you subtract 14 from 52 (the number of weeks in a year), you get 38. Seeing as how 38 is less than the 40 weeks of a full term pregnancy, it is, in fact, quite possibly a New Years baby.
