Pablo Sandoval benched for NLDS Game 3

Oct 10, 2010, 12:56 PM EDT

As expected, Giants manager Bruce Bochy has benched Pablo Sandoval and will start Mike Fontenot at third base in Game 3 of the NLDS Sunday against the Braves.  This from Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Kung Fu Panda” hit just .268/.323/.409 with 13 home runs over 563 at-bats during a disappointing regular season and is 1-for-6 with two strikeouts since the playoffs began.  He also made a crucial throwing error that led to the Braves’ comeback victory in Game 2.

The Giants are tied at a game apiece in their five-game series with the Atlanta.  Tim Hudson takes the mound this afternoon against Jonathan Sanchez.

I think ‘Camp Panda’ ought to include a stomach staple this off-season. Or send him to South East Asia and let him nibble on all the goodies made on the street carts. 3 days in the hotel bathroom and the kid will be down to 200 no problem! I actually cringe when I see the guy, he’s that far blown out.

If you look at his home-road splits you’ll see he had all-star numbers at home and was atrocious on the road. He’s basically been home-road platooned this last month or so.

The Jefferson Airplane had a horrible song about pandas on their 1989 reunion tour album.
That’s not really relevant to anything, except that the last time the subject of pandas came up it was in that stupid song, and this is the first time since, and it’s about a terrible ballplayer. Synchronicity? Ah well.

    What is a “The Atlanta”?
