Kirk Gibson is selling memorabilia from the 1988 and 1984 World Series

Kirk Gibson Dodgers home run

This is weird: Kirk Gibson is selling his bat, helmet and uniform from the 1988 World Series, as well as his 1984 World Series MVP trophy in an auction.  There’s going to be a press conference tomorrow explaining why he’s doing so.

My first thought: man, the Diamondbacks probably need to give their employees raises.

My second thought: I suppose the Hall of Fame never wanted that stuff. Probably because it’s all Kirk Gibsony, and you can never get that out, really.

Let me know when Joe Carter starts selling his 1993 stuff.

Not only did Carter score the last run against Philadelphia in the 1993 World Series, he also made the last put out in the the 1992 World Series. He gave the 1992 ball to pitcher Mike Timlin who still has it.

Meh. I’m only interested in the 1993 stuff–I need some kindling for my fireplace.

Pay Werth to get a shave and a haircut and use the hair as kindling.

The Phightins already used up all their not-so petty cash to grease Howard’s checkbook, so they can’t afford a barber for JDub.

Sounds to me like Kirk was out drinking with Jose Canseco last night (and picking up the tab).
