As far as Butterfield is concerned, he has been quoted as saying on MLB.com that since Toronto’s GM has not told him that he is no longer under consideration, then he is obviously still under consideration. I am still puzzled as to how these reports out of Boston claiming inside information have come about.

His main contact in the Toronto front office would have been J. P. Ricciardi (a resident of Boston) has since been fired. The new GM is notorious for his love of secrecy. He does not leak anything. The moves he made last season were a complete surprise to the media.

Bradford wrote a book several years ago on the Blue Jays and Red Sox front offices. My guess is that he still has good contacts inside the Toronto organization. Whether he’s right or not this time, who knows? If he keeps expanding the finalist list, though, he’s bound to get the right guy, right?

Please explain to me how somebody in Boston knows what the Blue Jays are up to? He may be right, but somehow, I doubt it.
