If he can stay healthy I have to agree - he has a good bat with some pop, and UZR has him at worst average at SS with the glove.

I can see the Red Sox using Scutaro to start the year and giving Lowrie time all around the infield, and if Lowrie stays healthy and productive, moving into a platoon and then full time gig.

Matthew - UZR on one year is next to useless and Fangraphs always say that - you need a few years data to get an idea, and over the course of the last 2 years, UZR has Andrus a better SS than Ramirez.

Mark my words: if Jed Lowrie can stay healthy and can find playing time next year, he will be the best shortstop in the AL. 285/.360/.465 with average defense.

Big drop in OPS for Mountain View native Jason Bartlett from 2009 to this year, about 230 points. He loses big time in Bay Area Bragging rights to Tulo, whose from Sunnyvale.

More on topic, I agree about Andrus being the best defensively, although Ramirez had a good year. Andrus' range really is amazing. Pennington had too many lapses at short, letting the ball play him which resulted in enough errors to put him behind Scutaro, Gonzalez, and especially Andrus.

Boston fans should study these results. They show what a good deal Scutaro has been for them.
