Jimmy Rollins’ message to Philly fans: “Let ‘em have it”

Oct 22, 2010, 8:51 AM EDT

Jimmy Rollins AP

Last night Jimmy Rollins gave Philly fans some instructions for Games 6 and 7:

“Be out there. Let ‘em have it. Let. Them. Have. It. All of ‘em. For real.”

Here’s the audio.

Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.

(Thanks to Rhea for the audio clip)

I saw Jimmy say that live, and I have to admit, it pumped me up to the point that I couldn’t sleep for the next two hours. That’s why I’m on my third cup of coffee and I’m still sleepy. I would like to get in my Delorean right now, go around 88 MPH and set it to tomorrow at 4pm…just in case the Yankers win tonight.

    • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:07 AM

But it’s a Delorean…. They can’t really go 88 mph. That’s just for the movie. Weak GM V6 wheezing away in those things…

Well, I think Philly is going to be absofluckinglutely insane. They’ll have Dirty Sanchez throwing Rusty Trombones because his ears are bleeding.

      • drocdude - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:24 PM

A Weak GM V6? Im curious as to,do you know about delorean’s???

The Motor in a Delorean was a Renault Engine and in fact a PRV engine look it up GM did not make this V6 had nothing to do with its design it was a joint venture with Volvo, Peugeot and Renault. So please don’t bash a company without checking the fact of the words you type

        Phillies Are Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Utley's Hair - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:26 PM

He was referring to Chris’ Back to the Future reference.

      • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:51 PM

Look, I was obviously trying to make the engines in those pigs feel better about themselves. And here you go and ruin it with the truth? They can’t handle the truth!! At least they could have some self respect for being a slow American car, but French on top of slow?? no respect.

      • drocdude - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:54 PM

        Jonny 5

        Its all good funny though

      • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 1:02 PM

Actually I’m a huge car nut, i’m shamed by my lack of Delorean knowledge. I’m having trouble though. Should I be shamed for not knowing enough about Deloreans? Or should you be shamed for knowing too much about them?? hmmm?? It’s a toss up. LOL! GO PHILLS!!!

      • drocdude - Oct 22, 2010 at 1:04 PM

Yah I might know a bit to much like you can still buy them new today for 57k
        from Texas lol

    • Utley's Hair - Oct 22, 2010 at 3:16 PM

Hey, it’s Doc Emmet Brown’s birthday today.

  2. Richard In Big D - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:16 AM

So when the mob, er, crowd in Philly storms the field and kills a couple of Giants players, which state will Rollins be tried in?

    • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:18 AM

      PA of course. Duhhh.

    • soccermom17540 - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:40 AM

Don’t forget tossing batteries at Burrell, throwing snowballs at Bruce Boche, vomiting on Cody Ross and taseing Timmy . . . (did I forget anything?). After all, all us Philly fans are just hoodlums.

      • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:53 AM

Soccermom!! Wanna get together to make up some Moltov coctails??? We could make up some small ones then smuggle them in under our triple fat goose jackets, then we can use your pantyhose as a slingshot. I think we can shoot them right into the Giants dugout from the right field seats..

      • soccermom17540 - Oct 22, 2010 at 10:04 AM

Perfect! Just let me know where and when . . . :)

      • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 10:17 AM

I’ll bring the gas and the rags, you bring the bottles. Meet me at the Promenade around 3:30. it’s on!!!

      • Utley's Hair - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:44 AM

Batteries at JD Drew? But they all run together, so I’m sure something else will be dredged up, veracity notwithstanding.

    • haguehog - Oct 22, 2010 at 9:52 AM

      “Dick” in “big d”

I don’t know what you are insinuating, but if you really want to know, in answer to your question, we will be in the state of “Delirium”, the same place we were when Number 88 in Blue and Silver went down.

By the way: Way to go SoccerMom, you handled him well also!

    • haguehog - Oct 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM

      “Little Dick in big D”,

By the way, I wasn’t very hospitable. Sorry. I forgot to ask “How ’bout dem Cowboys?”

      • Gobias Industries - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:36 AM

Ha. You said he had a small penis. Comic gold, my friend.

    • genvarsh - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:45 AM

it’s ok bud. all giants players look like a bunch of terrorists anyway.

      • doctorfunke - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:48 PM

Careful, you can get fired for that.

  3. doctorfunke - Oct 22, 2010 at 10:09 AM

Man I hope someone gets tased.

    You stay classy, Philadelphia.

    • flyerscup2010 - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:17 AM

because hoping people get tased makes you so much classier than those awful philly fans.

      • doctorfunke - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:47 PM

        Sarcasm.
Is this your first visit? If so, go ahead and click on some of the past popular posts there on the right hand side. Specifically, the one titled “Phillies fan runs onto field, gets tasered.”

And as soon as you can come up with another city where a dude INTENTIONALLY puked on another human, you get to keep the classy title.

      • Jonny 5 - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:57 PM

Blah. Blah, blah, blah. Blah! Same old crap. Blah! blah blah blah.

Just trying to match your wit there Doc. I think I did it. I might be I might be 1 “blah blah” short though.

    • Utley's Hair - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:46 AM

      Are you volunteering?

    • psujay - Oct 22, 2010 at 3:08 PM

What does that have to do with the fanbase? Someone ran on the field. The tasing wasn’t a fan it was security. If the tasing had happened at Yankee Stadium then ESPN doesn’t report it as much, same way they handled Roethlisberger’s first and second rape accusations (the one in Vegas and the one down south). But it’s Philly, so it’s chic to rip on the fans. Kids (the guy was a junior in high school) run on the field in every city, it’s not a Philly phenomenon.

      • psujay - Oct 22, 2010 at 3:09 PM

The guy vomiting was from Jersey. That’s not even part of the US, it’s its own country.

  4. flyerscup2010 - Oct 22, 2010 at 11:18 AM

i’d like to point out that he was making a refence to the “bed intruder” guy, which is hilarious. “for real. for real. run and tell THAT.”

  5. maria1001 - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:16 PM

Soccermom – wow, what a bore! Why not trying to learn the facts, okay? First off, regarding snowballs at Santa – the guy was some drunk wearing a Santa suit, vomiting on the girl – did you know that a whole section of Phillies fans got a hold of that lowlife and held him down until security arrived (giving him a shot or two in the process). The guy would have otherwise escaped. As for the tasing, perhaps a bit extreme, but it was done to protect the safety of the players on the field. The idiot shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

You call us hoodlums, but I’d rather be a hoodlum than be uneducated or uninformed. You are talking about a handful of scum that Philly fans do not embrace as part of their fanship. We are a passionate, knowledgeable fan base. We show up every game and we support our team. As for the Phillies, these are guys who play the game right, they play hard, they are confident, not arrogant and they play without controversy. They do much to support their community and are avid volunteers in many causes, particularly a cause that is close to my heart – Chase and Jen Utley for the protection of innocent animals who are abused.

You are absolutely clueless. If it makes your team, your city better to trash us, go ahead and have your fun. At the end of the day, we don’t care anyway.

  6. maria1001 - Oct 22, 2010 at 12:19 PM

My apologies soccermom…I misread the thread. It’s Richard in Big D that needs a good slap.

    • Gobias Industries - Oct 22, 2010 at 5:21 PM

      Whoopsie.

  7. williepfistergash - Oct 22, 2010 at 1:06 PM

Atta Boy Jimmy – lord knows you’ve been mostly useless.
