Quote of the Day: Mike Lupica on A-Rod

Oct 22, 2010, 9:54 AM EDT

“It is a good thing he did knock in those two runs in the Game 1 rally, or this October would remind people, exactly, of the ones when he looked like the easiest out on the team.”
Mike Lupica, in the course of a column in which he reminds readers, exactly, that this October A-Rod looks like the easiest out on the team.
I know you need your big guns to show up and that, for the most part, A-Rod hasn’t. But it does seem strange to me that a year after Rodriguez basically carried the Yankees to a World Series title on his back, he’s still getting the “A-Rod needs to step up or be remembered as an October choker” columns written about him.

Lupica is a chipwich. We need a Marv Albert-like scandal involving him to get him out of the papers and off the air.
He and Kornheiser should be locked in a closet with a starved, rabid jaguar.
    End rant.

That seems excessive. And what’s the point of the jaguar being rabid? I don’t think Lupica & Kornheiser would really be concerned with getting rabies, since they’re being eaten alive. Priorities.

OK, deal. We’ll make it a crocodile then. No sense for overkill.

Lupica and Kornheiser with a rabid jaguar, … what did a rabid jaguar ever do to you to deserve that?

    Derek Jeter: .278/.316/.417
    Jorge Posada: .259/.310/.296
    Mark Teixeira: .148/.258/.296
    Brett Gardner: .200/.259/.200
    Marcus Thames: .200/.272/.350
    Nick Swisher: .194/.286/.484

    Alex Rodriguez: .214/.294/.250

Sure, A-Rod’s kind of sucked, but so has half the team. Of course, guess who Lupica singles out.

Mike Lupica is the NY side of the rivalry’s equivalent to Dan Shaughnessy.

Lupica is now and always will be a loser, his opinion on most any subject should be one thing…IGNORED. A-Rod has indeed had a rough post season but there is plenty of blame to go around when it comes to the lack of offense. Maybe Lupica should put on a uniform and pick up a bat and help A-Rod out, if not then do all of us Yankees fans a favor and shut up, we all realize the team is not playing up to its capabilities.

    Consider the source.

I’m always wondering what George Steinbrenner did to piss him off 30 years ago that he won’t let go of. Probably mistook him for a bus boy at a press conference and told him to go and make sure everybody’s water glass was filled.

It couldn’t be that he grew up in New England and attended BU? Nah, .. that would be too easy.

If the evil dwarf is writing about the Yankees he’s taking a shot at them, .. it’s like a universal law akin to gravity. Brian Cashman could make it rain beer and snow hundred dollar bills and Lupica would write a five part series on how the Yankees are causing an increase in inflation and AA meetings.

Suffice it to say if Lupica is writing about the Yankees it’s not worth reading. Not that much if anything he writes is worth reading.
