Really, .. why? It didn't mean anything to the Phillies when he lead them to the WS last year.

He was traded by the Indians after he won the Cy Young. He was traded by the Phillies after he not only lead them to the WS, he was clearly the only pitcher that had any success against the Yankees. As soon as the Mariners realized they weren't making the playoffs they auctioned him off too.

He's been traded three times in the last two years, treated like a commodity, because it was in the best interest of the team that held his contract at the time. That amounts to a crash course in the business side of baseball. When the time comes for him to make his decision I'd wager it will be as a business decision too. I'm sure he factor his family and his career but money counts for a lot. This is his one and only shot at free agency. I wouldn't put too much stock in his half a season with the Rangers or his love for Ranger fans.

And, if the Sabathia deal is an indicator the Yankee offer will be the biggest offer by far.

A lot of players have used the Yankees to drive up their asking price of the places they really want to go.....it has happened so often that the Yankees now show no interest and publicly state they have no interest in some players just to keep agents from using them. I just don't see Cliff Lee, his wife, or family as a fit for NY....but Cliff seems exactly like the kind of player that will put great emphasis on his family's happiness with a city.

“The story is not an issue to us. Her experience in New York is certainly a non-issue. She enjoys New York as much as anyone enjoys New York.”

LMAO!!! Doesn't he know escape from NY is a true story???? Every time I go there It's that way. Handcuffing my valuables to my wrist. Clothes tattered. Growing a mullet and a scruffy "beard", calling myself Snake so no one messes with me. It's always the same for me.... Can't wait to leave....
