He’s a bona fide character and a prima donna to be sure, but he’s hardly alone in that and he always had a good sense of humor about it. (Remember comments about mango trees and his ‘daddy’?) Most of all, in his prime he was simply one of the great pitchers of all time. I’m happy to say that I saw Koufax in his prime and just as happy that 35+ years later I saw Pedro too.

If he’s still got enough left in the tank to help some team, I hope he gets the chance.
