So this isn’t necessarily getting the band back together. This is kind of like Dave Grohl starting a new band with Krist Novoselic a Foo Fighter. Or something like that….

You’re right. Beane replaced Alderson in 1998, and DePo joined in 1999.

I’m still trying to get over how the Mets made a smart decision like hiring Sandy. Was it a fluke? Did they not mean to? Did they actually try to call Sandy Alomar for a GM interview and accidentally called Alderson? These touch phones can be tricky!

I don’t in any way shape of form want Wally Backman near my team. Bobby V. is probably out as well. Unfortunate that Tim Wallach is off the market. Maybe they make a run at Ryne Sandberg? Failing that…. Bring back Dallas Green!! We need some keister-kicking in Queens!

As a Phillies fan, the Alderson hiring makes me somewhat nervous that the Mutts will be relevant again in the next year or two. The guy is smart and old school, much like Pat Gillick, and we all know what Gillick did for the Phillies the last few years. Unless the Wilpons continue to mettle, which will keep the Mutts down.
