With the World Series now shifting to Texas the Rangers will have Hall of Famer and team president Nolan Ryan throw out the ceremonial first pitch for Game 3 tomorrow.

After watching Ryan show off some impressive velocity and movement on his first pitch prior to Game 1 of the ALCS earlier this month I’m really hoping someone at the ballpark hooks up the Pitch-F/X machine to get an accurate reading on the 62-year-old’s stuff this time around.

Game 4 will feature former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush throwing out the ceremonial first pitches Sunday night. George W. was one of the Rangers’ owners from 1989-1998.

EVERY ceremonial first pitch should be thrown by Nolan Ryan. It was the nastiest ceremonial first pitch EVER. I was thinking he could have come out in the 8 th inning last night to quiet things down, but I guess he wasn’t dressed for that….

Dubya’s pitch will be a massive boondogle that will nearly destroy the Texas Rangers organization. Texas fans will then attribute this to Barack Obama’s socialist agenda.

Yeah, my comment had less to do with Obama/Bush’s literal ability to throw a baseball, and more to do with the massive competency gap that exists between them (and of course the stubborn refusal of a small segment of the population to acknowledge that gap).

My bad president can beat up your bad president.

Oh and he can throw a baseball better too.

Will this be the first time a first pitch in a World Series game is thrown out by a war criminal and mass murderer? I’ve checked back and can’t find any record of Lyndon Johnson or Richard Nixon throwing one out, though I assume they must have. Mass murderers love a spotlight, though usually they just write incoherent letters to newspaper columnists.

Aaron, was the last Nolan pitch clocked somewhere?
