Poll: Will Giants repeat?

Nov 1, 2010, 10:51 PM EDT

The Giants might still be spraying champagne all over the visiting clubhouse, but it’s never too early to look ahead. Do you think the San Francisco Giants have the look of a dynasty? Or are they just a flash in the pan.

Let the debate begin …

With the depth of pitching both on staff and in the minors, they will be competitive for a long time. That being said they got extremely lucky with some cast offs and role players this season; guys that normally make Sabean look merely cheap made him look like a genius this time around. No one else really wanted Huff, Burrell, Ross, Torres, etc. Relying on the same types of moves might get them there again but it not having a true premier offensive type player or two will always make scoring runs consistently a problem for the Giants. They should still be commended for being a great team in the purest sense of the word.

It helps that the NL West is mostly no good. The Dodgers, the Diamondbacks, and the Padres should all be varying degrees of lame next year, so add Zach Belt and Mark DeRosa to the Giants and they could get back in the playoffs. At which point, well…

There are 30 teams. I’ll bet on the field versus any specific team if the question is Will [insert team name] win next year’s World Series? Not a very revealing poll.

Only if Lance Willliams and Mark Fainaru-Wada don’t show up. Nobody else cares that the Giants have been willing to try to turn around 54 years of futility at any cost I GUESS THEY SUCCEEDED THIS YEAR! National fans who don’t forget rewarded them with the lowest-ever TV World Series
