The Giants World Series win: in newspaper front pages

Check out the McCovey Chronicles’ collection of newspaper covers with Giants World Series victory stories. You have to go down to Memphis’s Commercial Appeal to find a “San Francisco Treat” headline, but there are multiple “Say Heys.”

By the way, this is why, no matter how many big media sites launch baseball blogs [cough, cough], there will always be a place for fan-written, team-specific blogs.

    McCovey Chronicles and Hardball talk are my number 1 and 2 stops for baseball info every day. Grant is one of the best.

    This is also why newspapers will be missed. The Internet has many things that trump old fashioned print, but nothing has matched the power of a great front page. Or, for that matter, the permanence.

    That’s so weird. I woke up this morning wondering how The Tuscaloosa News out of Alabama was going to cover the Giants’ World Series victory. Now I know.

    My favorite one was the Denver Post. Got the shot of Aubrey Huff draped over Buster Posey on one side, and an ad touting pole dancing classes on the other. Did those two things go to together? You decide …
