"What happens if they make Cliff Lee a six-year, $120 million offer and he turns it down? "

The Yankees move on. Unless Crawford or Werth can pitch, they don't really help the Yankees enough to cover their cost.

I agree about Lee. But personally I'd rather see Crawford replace Granderson in the outfield. Granderson is way to streaky. Granted he has more power then Gardner but that's the only stat that he has over Gardner. Gardner has a better OBP and as a top of the order guy he creates more problems for opposing pitchers, plus his salary is 1/10th of Granderson and he has more upside then Granderson. Crawford or Werth would more then offset Granderson.
To switch gears after all that the Yankees have a more pressing need then the outfield. They need to upgrade the catching position. Posada's done, if the Yankees don't think any of the guy's in the minors are ready they need to get a replacement for Posada. I like John Buck, he has power, hits for average and is good defensively and bats from the left side. If not him AJ Pierzynski might be had for a couple of years until the prospects are ready.
