No matter which way they go they can't have Posada behind the plate . The man is useless there , he can't throw anyone out and he can't block the plate either . They say he's going to get the major load at DH , but at a .248 BA how much can he be counted on ? Also before they give Jeter anymore than a year to year contract they should realize that between Posada and Jeter they're going to have two not very productive players that are going to hurt you in the defensive end of things . I say get a John Buck and use Posada as a back up and I know they won't do this , but let Jeter walk . Jeter is going to use his popularity in NY to gouge the Yankees out of as much money as he can because he knows the end is near .

The Yankees will definitely give Montero a real chance to catch for them. And, he'll definitely end up as their DH. He'll be a good one, too. Fantastic power.

Austin Romine is the same age as Montero, but he’s only got one sort of “meh” year at Double-A under his belt.

Not only that, but this was the first year he was a full time catcher, and his production dropped off significantly in the second half. And that's not even a full schedule of MLB games! [note: yes he plays in trenton, which is a known pitchers park, but he still declined in the 2nd half]

A rotation of Posada and Montero at Catcher and DH with Cervelli being a true backup playing once a week could work, but it'd still be smart to keep Montero down until after June 1 to delay his arbitration clock.
