I recommend reading Weber’s book. However, his objectivity may compromised. He may have had to essentially promise that it would be mostly favorable to umpires’ viewpoint to get so many of them to participate in his interviews.

So, Webber is saying we should improve umpires instead of using video replay? Well, BOTH sound like a good idea to me. I mean, what makes these two plans mutually exclusive?

I think Replay would be more cost effective and immediate. Umps will get better when shown how bad they are. Won’t they? Or at least we could see poor performers canned, you know, like the players they’re paid to officiate……
