The above piece talks about leverage if he took offers now. How much leverage does Lee need? He is by far the best pitcher on the market, everyone knows it’s going to be between the Yankees and the Rangers. The Rangers are going to make their strongest offer when the time comes and try and sell him on “down home” aspect of signing with Texas. The Yankees are going to offer him probably everything he wants and more money, the Yankee “tradition”, etc… Lee doesn’t need leverage he already has it. It’s not like either the Yankees or the Rangers aren’t going to make him their best offer because it may take a couple of weeks longer then they would like.

Perhaps he’s still decompressing from the WS and wants to take a break to get past the Thanksgiving Holiday before he starts thinking about business again? Maybe he just wants to take a break for a bit.

Whether he signs with the Yankees or not the Yankees will likely offer the most, .. by a lot. Hera that, .. Yankee haters?

The race is not always to the swift or the battle to the strong, .. but that’s the way to bet!

Rumor has it Lee always liked auctions so he want’s an old fashioned auction for his contract with an auctioneer and all.

Also he ate beans for lunch, it’s looking good for Boston.

Lee may not be available.
In this part of the world, turkey season is over (I think) and it’s deer hunting season. Most women will tell you that nothing gets accomplished for the next four weeks….even longer, if they are bow hunters. It’s a very odd mindset.
If he’s still not accepting offers in January (the start of noodling season), I’d begin to wonder.

I wonder if when they say he isn’t accepting offers if that means they don’t want teams bothering to draw up actual contracts until they have an idea of what everyone is going to be offering.
