Nice work in Miami. John Buck’s 118 GP last year ties his career high, meaning the backup still has to go 44 games. The .802 OPS was almost all SLG driven (.489), leaving OBP of .313. The even worse news: that OBP was his career high.

Talk about buying high. Or were they high when they did this deal?

It’d be difficult to chalk Buck’s contract up to pennypinching, so let’s attribute it to pure idiocy instead – unless you want to interpret $18mm over three years as the Feesh’s gambit to stave off Player’s Association ire at the Uggla dump. The Feesh look like they’re committing slow motion suicide on all fronts this offseason. I’m almost beginning to wonder if Larry Beinfest isn’t campaigning to get himself fired and out from under Scrooge McLoria’s dogshit-covered bootheel.
