The Best and Worst Uniforms of All Time: The Wrapup

Nov 16, 2010, 6:20 PM EDT

Ryan Richard

I had a lot of fun running down the best and worst looks of all 30 teams.  If anyone can think of any other silly offseason time-killers, by all means, let me know.  In the meantime, at the request of many, what follows are links to all 30 of the uniform rundowns:

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Phillies, Braves, Marlins, Mets, Nationals/Expos (and bonus updated Nationals);

Reds, Cardinals, Brewers, Astros, Cubs, Pirates;

Giants, Padres, Rockies, Dodgers, Diamondbacks

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Rays, Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Orioles;

Twins, White Sox, Tigers, Indians, Royals;

Rangers, Athletics, Angels, Mariners

Only, like, 100 days to go until spring training.

    Umpire uniforms?

    Craig: what is your all-time favorite uniform, and least favorite uniform, across all franchises?

    How about all time best and worst trades? We can start with the obvious Babe Ruth to Yankees.
    All-Time most colorful owners and managers? Hmmmm, where to start?

      Might as well just call it the best trades since on the other end worst trade goes without saying.

      But yeah, Bambino is 1st.

    Craig, I missed your Red Sox uni comments the first time around… how did these abominations not merit a mention?

      Probably because St. Patrick’s day falls during spring training.

    Only 89 days until pitchers and catchers report!

    How about real or bogus and/or rational or irrational unwritten rules? (Not that unwritten rules are really ever rational.)

    I really would like to see a vote on the worst uniform ever by any team. Maybe even a best ever. And as far as ideas. Len hit it on the head. All time worst and best trades. Which are kind of the same thing anyway because if it was the worst for one team, it had to have been the best for the other.

    Lawyer stories?

  9. mvd513 - Nov 17, 2010 at 3:04 AM

    Given free reign and reasonable money, not Yankee money, but say maybe 100-110 Mil, what would you do with the Braves, Craig?

  10. mvd513 - Nov 17, 2010 at 3:07 AM

    More opinions about how much money the Tigers have wasted on the left side of their infield so far… or really just lots of opinion on every big signing. Do you think Jake Westbrook was a good idea?
    Or how stupid it would be for the Reds to let Joey Votto reach arbitration.

    You read a lot of other baseball blogs right? Why not give us some links Rob Neyer style?

    Some potential topics: hats (considered apart from uniforms); ballpark food; bobbleheads and other promotional items; season ticket-holder packages/incentives/promotions/trinkets; unique/distinguishing features of the ballpark experience for the various teams; parking/tailgating/outside-the-ballpark scenes. Stuff like that – you’d probably need some help from the collective in covering all this stuff, but it’d be interesting to know about, and in a dream world might even spark some teams to think more creatively about this stuff.
